Free Bracelet Size Calculator & Chart

A bracelet size calculator turns your wrist measurement into the bracelet length that will fit, by adding room for the fit you like and the style of bracelet. Most chain bracelets should be about 1.5 to 2.5 cm (0.5 to 1 in) longer than your wrist.

Enter your wrist size in cm or inches and the result updates as you type. Sizing varies by brand and clasp type, so treat this as a guide, not a guarantee.

How we got this

  • 16 cm wrist + 2 cm comfort ease for a chain / link bracelet = 18 cm (7.09 in).
  • Nearest standard length: 7 in (17.8 cm), usually labeled M.
  • Solid gold chain bracelets do not stretch, so if you are between sizes lean toward comfort fit. A jeweler can usually add or remove links.

Sizing varies by brand and clasp type: lobster, box, and toggle clasps all sit differently. This is a guide, not a guarantee.

How to measure your wrist for a bracelet

  1. 1

    Find the spot

Measure just below the wrist bone, toward the hand, where a bracelet naturally rests.

  2. 2

    Tape method

Wrap a flexible tape around that spot so it lies flat against the skin without squeezing, and read the number.

  3. 3

    String or paper method

Wrap string or a paper strip around the same spot, mark the overlap, lay it flat, and measure it with a ruler.

  4. 4

    Add room for fit

Enter the measurement above and choose your fit. For bangles, measure hand width with thumb and little finger touching.

Assumptions: chain and tennis bracelets add 1.5, 2, or 2.5 cm for snug, comfort, or loose fit; beaded bracelets add 0.5 cm more; cuffs add 1 to 2 cm of total inner circumference including a 2.5 cm opening; string and paper readings are reduced by 0.3 cm. Wrist sizes from 10 to 30 cm are accepted.

Bracelet size FAQ

How do I know my bracelet size?

Measure your wrist just below the wrist bone with a flexible tape, then add room for fit: about 1.5 cm (0.6 in) for snug, 2 cm (0.8 in) for comfort, or 2.5 cm (1 in) for loose on a chain or tennis bracelet. A 16 cm wrist usually wears an 18 cm (7 in) bracelet.

What is the average bracelet size for women and men?

Most women wear a 7 in (17.8 cm) bracelet, with 6.5 to 7.5 in covering most wrists. Most men wear 8 to 8.5 in (20.3 to 21.6 cm). Your own wrist measurement is a better guide than an average.

How much bigger should a bracelet be than your wrist?

Add 1.5 to 2.5 cm (about 0.5 to 1 in) for chain and tennis bracelets, a little more for beaded styles, and about 1.5 cm total for a cuff including its opening. Bangles are different: they must pass over your hand, so size them by hand width.

How can I measure my bracelet size without a tape?

Wrap a strip of paper or a piece of string around your wrist just below the bone, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length with a ruler. String tends to read slightly loose, so this calculator subtracts about 0.3 cm when you choose that method.

Can a gold bracelet be resized?

Usually. A jeweler can often add or remove links on a gold chain bracelet or fit a different clasp or extender. Solid gold chains do not stretch, so choose comfort fit if you are between sizes. Bangles and tennis bracelets are harder to resize.
